landed on the lake at Taku Glacier and walked uphill to the lodge where
we would encounter our first bears, take a hike through the rainforest
and sample the smoked salmon prepared by some of the local Alaskans. The
temperature was in the fifties and there were flowers and evidence of
a growing season that hadn't quite finished yet. Daylight lasted longer
than we would have expected and, in fact, it was still daylight when we
arrived back in Juneau. What a day. What a side trip.
