FRIDAY NIGHTERS
IN ALASKA

Tuesday - Sitka
and some side trips

e steamed south overnight, and arrived in Sitka at daybreak on Tuesday. This little city is quaint and without docks to accommodate a ship our size. So we had to moor out and come ashore in the lifeboats. They called them tenders, and when I was in the Navy, we called them liberty boats.

We all went on ashore to Sitka on liberty, of course. Jack and Arden went fishing, and when Jack got back, he and Kathy went kayaking. The rest of us spent the day in Sitka looking at some of the little shops and the architecture. The church photos were taken by Al, who as we know him, is our defrocked bishop.

Later in the day, while still daylight, we headed further south to Ketchikan with all the jewelry shops and tourist traps. And another side trip that Jack thought would remind him of his Marine Corps boot camp.. And it did.
